I first met Sean and Laura last summer - they live in London and were looking for a wedding photographer as well as accommodation for their wedding at The Ashes in Endon, Staffordshire. It made sense to meet up at Westfields B&B which is owned and managed by my parents, a stone's throw from the venue - and it was a case of two birds, one stone when they decided to book the whole B&B and for me to capture their big day..!
I knew we had one amazing venue in the bag as I had worked at The Ashes before; its rural setting and stunning barns are the perfect backdrop for a rustic wedding. What I hadn't expected was the setting for bridal prep. Laura's parents' conservatory was flooded with the most beautiful light - not to mention a stunning vintage mirror - what a treat. Caro Millington and Fiona Brunt worked their magic on the girls' hair and make-up, Blossoms delivered the prettiest bouquets and buttonholes and I was joined by talented videographers, Adorable Moments.
Laura's gown - 'Iris' by Enzoani - was dripping in detail and her bridesmaids were just beautiful in differing pastel hues.
The ceremony was held at St John the Baptist Church in Alton and to top it all off, the sun had well and truly got his hat on. Their guests travelled to The Ashes in style aboard a Routemaster bus - a nod to their new home in the big smoke. One Eye on the Wedding Cake performed an acoustic set during the drinks reception and guests carved their own meat at the tables during the wedding breakfast. Big fun. I must admit I had one eye on wedding cake myself - a real work of art created by the talented Fran at the Cheshire Cat Cake Co. What a wonderful day. Here are my best bits...
